This time I’ll be taking a look at item/753877 Ochaco Uraraka (aka Uravity) from Boku no Hero Academia in her hero costume brought to us by Kotobukiya as part of their ATRFX J line. After getting virtually nothing in terms of figures for the longest time suddenly BnHA figures started popping up left and right (guess they sorted out whatever the hold-up was) and now there’s a fairly big selection to choose from. I for my part had to severely limit myself for lack of space so I decided I’d only collect the Koto figures (apart from Nendoroids and some trading figures). Since Ochaco is among my favorites I also splurged and got her with the exclusive bonus face (also because that smile is so precious). Anyway, let’s get to some actual reviewing, shall we?

Ochaco arrives in a very vibrant box. The bright colors and comic effects make this a real eye-catcher (I don’t quite get why they put the ARTFX J explanation on every single one of their BnHA figure’s boxes though, who cares about that?). A large front window already allows a good look at the figure itself, but if that’s not enough for you the top, side and back got you covered as well. I actually like how some of the pictures are integrated into the comic panels. The bottom has all the usual warnings and information so as not to disturb the overall box design.

As expected, the blister is nothing out of the ordinary. As usual the bonus faceplate comes in a separate smaller blister.

So, 4 parts it is for Ochaco (the standard version got 3): main figure, base, helmet head and bonus faceplate. It’s worth noting though that the helmet head can be further disassembled and that her regular head is removable (obviously).

There’s also an instruction sheet included, both in English and Japanese, though the pictures already tell you all you need to know.

For the base Koto went with a rocky slap of concrete. There’s nothing particularly fancy about it, yet the color gradients and dents do add something and the rocky bits floating upwards fit her Zero Gravity Quirk nicely.

Ochaco gets attached to the base via a single long plastic peg that goes into the base. It’s a tight fit and seems pretty sturdy, but I can’t help worrying about leaning issues or breakage in the future since it’s her only point of contact with the base.

Spin around…

Ochaco’s standard expression is quite serious with those knitted eyebrows and determined gaze. It surely fits her battle-ready pose.

The bonus face shows us a cute and happy smile instead and while it may look a bit off considering the pose if you just imagine her in a happier setting it won’t bother you anymore. And let’s be honest, she just looks so precious. ♡

Koto did a good job of translating her bob hair into figure form. The different strands are defined enough, and the shading enhances that. Yet the seam lines, especially the one indicating that her fringe can be detached are really conspicuous. While that probably can’t be helped when it comes to the detachable parts I don’t quite think the ones at the back of her head are necessary…
I’m not too keen on the shiny finish here as it looks a bit cheap.

Onto the hero costume it’s quite noticeable how much it clings to her body and how little it leaves to your imagination. The suit got creases in the right places to make it look life-like and the shiny finish definitely creates the impression of a stretchy fabric. Overall the design is rather simple with the black and pink parts, yet there is some uneven paint to be found at the rims.

To suppress the nausea from using her quirk too much Ochaco is wearing the Uraraka wrists around her… well… wrists and they’re pretty well done. Also love the bright pink rings. Her hands too are well-defined, and they even added glossy fingernails.
The belt looks good too, nothing much to add here.

I actually really like how they did the shading on her hero suit. I mentioned that it looks like some stretchy sort of fabric and nothing makes this more obvious than the lighter colors used for the body parts with a little more meat to them (that sure is some contrived way to say that her butt and legs look great in it, isn’t it?).

The Uraraka legs sure are well-made too, I’m not sure what to tell you here, because they’re very much on the simple side design-wise. Still they’ve been well-executed with shading in the right places making them look less cartoony.

There are some small hiccups on the heels and soles with a little paint bleed and uneven edges, but it’s not really a big deal.
Well now, guess I can’t put off using the helmet head any longer, but I sure wish I could…
As you can see it really deforms her face and while it’s not that terrible from the side, she’s actually meant to be looked at from the front and… sorry, but I can’t really stop chuckling here.
They sure didn’t do her any favors doing the visor like that and if the helmet isn’t an option any more the figure suddenly loses a lot of its initial appeal.

It’s not that the helmet itself is badly done, quite the opposite, but that makes it even more of a shame.

Now onto some size comparisons…
Koto lists Ochaco as a 1/8 figure and she reaches a height of roughly 19-19,5cm (tip of her shoe to the top of her head). Considering her character height of 156cm this is fairly accurate. Yet there’s also her hunched pose to consider so you actually get a little more than what you paid for with her. :3
She looks great next to the other BnHA figures of the same line, here I picked item/728444 as an example. There definitely is consistency to be found here, which you should be able to expect of figures from the same manufacturer.
More regular 1/8 figures do look a little off next to her. item/61401&rsqu... proportions seem more petite compared to Ochaco.
Myethos is known to not exactly stick to the 1/8 sizing and their White Rabbit does look okay~ish next to Ochaco (size-wise at least).
item/498420 works actually pretty well (maybe I should’ve picked Ochaco’s other fp though).
item/604756 & item/676101 is where it starts getting tricky. Astolfo is also made by Koto and a 1/7 at that and they didn’t exactly stick to the scale with him either.

All in all, you pretty much get what you expected with Ochaco. Some little flaws here and there but nothing major. Though I guess that’s easier to say if you never had any plans to display her with the helmet on anyway. That’s probably the biggest gripe you can have with the figure, as they pretty much nailed her otherwise.
That's it for this review!
If you've got any thoughts on the figure feel free to share them in the comments.
Thanks for taking your time to read this! I hope you have a nice day! :3
