The Maui Strikers brought home five titles from a pair of Oregon youth soccer tournaments held earlier this month.

The club’s 2012 boys team and 2011 girls squad won their respective divisions at both the Adidas Beaverton Cup and the Oswego Nike Cup.

The Maui Strikers 2012 boys went undefeated in both tournaments, which included U11 Bronze championship victories over NW Elite (5-1) in Beaverton and Titans FC (7-1) in Lake Oswego. The team comprised Noah Cueto, Hilina’i Kodani, Parker Cameron, Auli’i Kapuniai, Leia Shimabuku, Kailee Lehman, Noah Sakuma, Leonidas Kawai, Kaonohikaumaka Mokiao, Kyten Lum, Kana Okazaki, Sonny Kuwahara and Ka’imi Abafo. Coaches are Dain Shimabuku, Travis Kodani and Kit Okazaki.

The Maui Strikers 2011 girls won the U12 Gold championship in Beaverton with a 1-0 win over Harbor Premier before taking down Eugene Timbers FC 4-0 in the Nike U12 Silver/Bronze final. Team members are Kimiye Tokishi, Chayna Fernandez, Vika Vaituulala, Peyton Garcia, Brooklyn Gusman Nishihira, Mia Toeaina, Hina Artates, Shiloh Kuehu, Rylee Fusato, Kale’a Ferreira, Arianna Arakawa, Rynlie Hansen-Capitano, Jamee Tone-Tanaka and Jolene Tom. Coaches are Cherisse Fernandez, JC Fernandez and Jordyn Paa.

2011 girls team

Also winning a title was the Maui Strikers 2009 girls, who claimed the U14 Silver division at the Nike Cup. The team, which defeated Chance Academy 1-0 in the final, consists of Lily O’Dwyer, Aiko Vaituulala, Huaka’i Kaaa, Jaynie Robello, Nuala Ruiz-Rockett, Khloe Garcia, Hawealani Kauhaahaa, Payton Hammer, Avery Fusato, Ikea Artates, Kahau Legsay, Malie Hulbert, Taylor Kauanaulu and Raine Lopez. Coaches are Ron Kapaku and Kimberly Vaituulala.

The Maui Strikers 2008 boys picked up a couple of runner-up finishes, and the 2010 boys also competed.

The Maui Girls Soccer Club also had two teams compete in the tournaments. At the Nike Cup, the club won the U11 Silver title 3-1 over Fuego and placed second in the U13 Silver division.
