Trump administration must accept new DACA applications, court rules

The Trump administration must resume accepting new applications for the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program and comply with a recent Supreme Court ruling, a federal judge ordered Friday. U.S. District Judge Paul W. Grimm of the District of Maryland said his order “restores the DACA policy to its pre-September 5, 2017 status,” a reference to the day the Trump administration announced the president would rescind the program. Grimm’s ruling comes nearly a month after the Supreme Court ruled that the White House’s effort to end the Obama-era program ran afoul of the Administrative Procedure Act. [Read More]

What experts say are helpful alternatives to one type of nasal decongestant

Over-the-counter agents to treat upper respiratory symptoms like nasal congestion make up a multi-billion-dollar business. But recently, an FDA advisory committee ruled that oral phenylephrine, commonly found in some over-the-counter, or OTC, products like Dayquil, Mucinex, and Sudafed PE, does not work as a decongestant. The decision has left many consumers confused when searching for relief among all the available products on store shelves. "It really is stressful for a lot of consumers," [Read More]

“Born to Play,” an ad for the NFL that ran during Sunday night’s Super Bowl matchup between the Kansas City Chiefs and San Francisco 49ers, promoted the league’s global recruitment program. Can I pack this in my carry-on bag? Whats OK and not OK at security

— -- You’ve probably heard about weird things people have tried to get through airline security over the years. I’ve mentioned some in this column, like the fellow who tried to go through a Miami checkpoint with live snakes in his pants or the guy in upstate New York with the gassed-up chainsaw in his carry-on. Both were stopped by the TSA. Most of us will never worry about stuff like that, but we do have questions about medications and other items. [Read More]
